Youth Hockey.
Beginning as a four-month intern in the summer of 2016, I rejoined the Pittsburgh Penguins for a year beginning in May 2017, completing my fourth year of the Sports Administration program abroad. My experience spanned 16 months and included 2 Stanley Cups, countless memories, and some unique opportunities for a young sports marketer.
Learn to Play
As Team Lead, planned for and implemented the fall and winter seasons of the Little Penguins Learn to Play Programs. Led the expansion of the program, increasing enrolment by 67% to 2,000 participants from 2016 to 2017.
Learn to Play Dek
Integral part in the creation of the Learn to Play Dek Hockey program, an off-ice sister program to the LTP Ice program. The first of its kind in the NHL. Responsibilities also included visiting at least one session from all 12 rinks participating in the inaugural season.
Try Hockey for Free
Using funds from the NHL’s Industry Growth Fund, expanded USA Hockey’s Try Hockey for Free Day to 4 additional dates. As part of the program, over 20 rinks in Western Pennsylvania were provided 50 free sets of equipment.
Marketing.
During my first internship, I identified a need for marketing support at the practice facility. Without a member from the marketing team at UPMC 66, the rink struggled to have promotional material produced on time. Sensing an opportunity, I started to create marketing material for the rink, gaining approval from the marketing team prior to going to market.
